This make me bonkers.

I watch WAY too much tv. Any tv is too much tv. Our spongey little pea-brains get bombarded with all sorts of crapola via the tv. The best thing my Dad ever taught me was that all advertising is bullsh*t and that little lesson has served me well. Currently the ad I find particularly appalling in terms of sheer bullcrappery is this one: I understand that high fructose corn syrup isn't as blatantly harmful as say cigarettes are, but it is harmful in a less obvious, more insidious way. High fructose corn syrup is a sweetener that is used as a filler and as a food preservative, and is in almost everything edible found on supermarket shelves. If you are eating a natural, whole food diet, you aren't eating high fructose corn syrup. Just like margarine or saccharine, high fructose corn syrup is a substance not found in nature. What?! No cake?!? Encroyable!

Let me just say that I know that I have been totally neglecting this wee blog, but it is really remarkable how much time a wedding can vacuum out of a person's time! It wasn't even MY wedding! Yep, the Evil Twin is all grown up and married as of Saturday. My newly minted brother-in-law is a really great guy, they are totally suited to each other right down to the ground, and they are going to be happy together for a very, very long time. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony and a fantastically fun reception. The highlight of the night was when my Dad ended his toast to my sister by surprising her by serenading her with a song by Tim McGraw, My Little Girl . There was not one single dry eye in the entire hall. It was something he had been working on for months and months and he pulled it off perfectly. My sister was blown away.
